The water cycle
This is a display that we have made about the water cycle. It explain step by step all the process (condensation, precipitation and evaporation)
The drop goes plop
This is a non fiction book for Year 2. It`s one of my favourite because you could learn in a funny way the different steps of the water cycle: condensation, precipitation and evaporation.
The characters are two birds, the mother and her son. He is very curious and wants to know why the drops of the water travel all the time.
I spy an alphabet in art
This is a non fiction book, and you could use it to work the letters of the alphabet, and at the same time learn lots of things of famous paintings.
In each page there is a letter and a painting. Inside the painting there is something that starts with that letter, so children have to find it.
The teacher could use it for the whole class or students could use it un pairs.

Lazy Jack: character description
With this activity, we could help the child to build the main character. He has to relate an adjective with a particular scene.
At the same time, the student learn how to describe characters using a lot of adjetives.
This map is from kidspiration program.
Sentence level
Word bank
In this activity we work the word level. The kid has to point in a word bank (related with the story of the very hungry caterpillar) what the sentence says.
As a teacher, we can see if the student has understood the word level of the story.
Word level: food and days of the week
This is an activity created by my group of work in the PDI.
The purpose is work with students word level. We have chose the days of the week and the different types of food that caterpillar eats in each day.
Wordfamilies of food
This is a map that I have made in the PDI about the three main types of food that caterpillar eats during the week.
I have divided in fruit, sweets and others.
Is a good example of how kids could create wordfamilies about healthy and unhealthy food using this story

The very hungry caterpilar
This book is my favourite one, because the story and illustrations are very original.
With this book, children could learn the butterfly life cycle and also types of healthy and unhealthy food.
The story is about a caterpillar which is always hungry. So, he eats apples, pears, plums, sweets, lollipops during a whole week until he becomes more and more fatter. Finally, he becomes a beautiful and colorful butterfly.
Lazy Jack
Lazy Jack |
We have used this book to work with children for Year 3.
It's a fun story of a very lazy boy who doesn't like to work. His mother, tired of his attitude, forces him to look for a job. So, Jack works on many places, a bakery, a cheese factory ... but it's so clumsy that everything goes wrong. At the same time, there is a very sad princess who has never laughed.
In the end, the nonsense that Jack does, make the princess laugh. Jack and the princess get married and live happily ever after.
Fat cat on a mat
Fat cat on a mat |
This is the first book that we have worked. Is aimed for Year 1 students because is full of CVC syllables, which are the easiest to learn.
The story is about a quiet cat who is always lying on a mat. Although their friends tell him to go with them to play, he doesn't want because he prefers to stay lying on it.
If you want to know the end of the story, I recommend you to read it :)
